Zimone and Dina trigger the first time each turn you draw your second card: target opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2. Their tap ability sacrifices another creature to draw a card and lets you put a land from hand onto the battlefield tapped. With eight or more lands it repeats, so the commander alone draws two cards and pays the drain once you are deep enough. The deck runs creatures that are happy to die, like Viridian Emissary and Palace Familiar, plus landfall cards that reward the free land drops.
In the recorded games, Scute Swarm was the standout, since every land dropped by the commander added to the swarm until the board was huge. Baleful Strix and Lifecrafter's Bestiary kept the cards flowing, and Craterhoof Behemoth turned a wide token board into one lethal attack. A few faster lists ran Protean Hulk, Ad Nauseam and Thassa's Oracle for a combo kill instead. Most games were won slowly through the drain and card advantage. The deck struggled against fast aggression, and a big artifact army with a huge crewed attacker ran it over before the engine paid off.
