At the start of combat on your turn, Vannifar gives you a choice. You can cloak a card from your hand, which puts it onto the battlefield as a face-down 2/2 with ward 2 that you can turn face up later for its mana cost if it's a creature. Or you can put a +1/+1 counter on each colorless creature you control, and face-down creatures count. The deck mixes big creatures worth flipping with counter doublers so the board keeps growing.
In the recorded games, the face-down creatures made opponents nervous since any of them could be a large threat. Vannifar switched between cloaking new bodies and growing the ones already out. Branching Evolution was the key card in the strongest games, doubling every round of counters and setting up a big late game. Other builds proliferated to push their counters further. With only seven games recorded, the clear pattern was steady growth that forced the table to keep spending removal on it, while Vannifar herself rarely won quickly.
