Torsten, Founder of Benalia
$1.79
$1.79Legendary Creature — Human Soldier
Selesnya creatures and lands that refill your hand on entry, leave seven Soldiers on death and can loop for infinite tokens.
Torsten costs seven mana. When he enters, you reveal the top seven cards and keep every creature and land among them, which can mean five or six cards at once in a creature-heavy deck. When he dies, you get seven 1/1 Soldier tokens. So removal on Torsten still leaves you a board. The deck plays as many creatures and lands as possible to max out the reveal, ramps hard to cast him early, and wants him to die more than once.
In the recorded games, the main combo was Nim Deathmantle with a sacrifice outlet like Ashnod's Altar. Each loop returns Torsten for {4}, he digs seven cards and leaves seven Soldiers, and the tokens pay for the next loop, so you end up with endless creatures and most of your deck. Faster lists ramped into Food Chain instead and used Skyclave Apparition and Alms Collector to slow opponents. Only seven games were recorded. The combo pieces were obvious targets, and opponents focused removal on the altar and Deathmantle once they saw them.
