Thrun can't be countered and has hexproof, so opponents can't target it with spells or abilities. For {1}{G} it regenerates, which covers damage and most destroy effects as long as you keep two mana open. The real outs against it are wipes that stop regeneration, edicts, exile sweepers and mass bounce. The deck uses that resilience as a steady clock, ramping into bigger green creatures while Thrun keeps swinging.

In the recorded games, Thrun lists played ramp like Cultivate and Mind Stone and utility creatures such as Reclamation Sage to deal with artifacts and enchantments. The plan was simple: make a lot of mana, land big threats and pressure opponents in combat. Thrun was hard to answer once it landed, which forced the table to race rather than remove it. The deck had little reach beyond combat, and opponents who drained life slowly and exiled graveyards could grind it down. Only seven games were recorded, so builds varied a lot.
