Sophina, Spearsage Deserter

$0.38

Sophina has menace, and whenever she attacks you investigate once for each nontoken creature attacking. Each Clue is an artifact that draws a card for {2}. Swinging with Sophina and three other creatures nets four Clues, so the deck wants plenty of real creatures, not tokens, and reasons to attack every turn. Her Friends forever partner adds a second commander and often a third color. Artifact payoffs that care about Clues being sacrificed fit naturally.

In the recorded games, Sophina mostly ran as a tempo deck: efficient creatures, removal and combat tricks that kept the attacks going and turned Clues into extra cards. Some lists leaned on artifact payoffs for the Clues, and one four-color version used Underworld Breach to combo with the artifacts and recursion. Fourteen games were recorded, and the deck rarely pulled ahead fast. It ground out incremental damage and card advantage, which left it open to sweepers and to decks that could block well or combo first.
