Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest

$0.30

Shu Yun is a 3/2 with prowess, so every noncreature spell gives him +1/+1 until end of turn. Each of those spells also lets you pay {R/W}{R/W} to give any target creature double strike. Two or three cheap cantrips and a pump spell turn a small body into a lethal attacker, or put double strike on a creature with infect or a sword. The deck runs lots of low-cost instants, sorceries and equipment, and saves them for the combat where it plans to kill someone.

In the recorded games, the deck chained spells during combat to pump Shu Yun and hand out double strike. Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar was the scariest addition: it copies commander damage to every other opponent, and Jeska's Will gave it the mana to cast a pile of spells in one turn. Monastery Mentor and Young Pyromancer went wide, and Stoneforge Mystic found equipment in the more creature-heavy lists. The weak spots were clear. Spot removal on the attacker wasted a whole turn of spells, the double strike payment strained the mana, and fast poison and haste aggro forced Shu Yun to block instead of setting up its big turn.
