Sauron, the Lidless Eye

$7.06

When Sauron enters, you gain control of an opponent's creature until end of turn, untap it and give it haste. That pairs naturally with sacrifice outlets, since a stolen creature you sacrifice never goes home. Sauron's other ability costs {1}{B}{R}: your creatures get +2/+0 and each opponent loses 2 life. With enough mana it becomes a win condition by itself, so the deck plays rituals, mana rocks and anything that creates a lot of mana.

In the recorded games, Dark Ritual and Arcane Signet got Sauron out early, and Jeweled Lotus did the same once. The steal-then-sacrifice plan kept him a threat for the whole game. The main combo was Animate Dead on Worldgorger Dragon. Each loop returns your lands untapped, which makes as much mana as you need to activate Sauron again and again until the table is drained. Only seven games were recorded. Sauron often drew attention early, and a steady attacker carrying Lightning Greaves pressured him in one game.
