Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival

$0.52

Pia gives your Thopters haste and creates a 1/1 flying Thopter whenever you play a land from exile or cast a spell from exile. Red impulse draw, which exiles the top card and lets you play it, becomes card advantage plus a hasty flyer each time. The deck fills up on effects that exile and let you play cards, so every turn produces a couple of Thopters that can attack right away.

In the recorded games, Pia built up flying Thopter armies a few at a time, and the tokens attacked straight away thanks to the haste. Uba Mask and Outpost Siege were standout engines, turning every draw into an exile cast and a new token. Shared Animosity and anthems pumped the swarm for a big attack, and Knight of the White Orchid helped the mana. Because the engine keeps producing tokens, Pia recovered well after board wipes and removal. The flip side is that 1/1 flyers do little damage on their own, so games without pump effects became slow, chip-damage affairs.
