Othelm, Sigardian Outcast

$0.40

Othelm costs three and has one ability: pay {2} and tap him to return a creature card that went to your graveyard from the battlefield this turn. It comes back tapped. That makes trades, chump blocks and sacrifice effects much cheaper, since the creature you lost returns at the end of the turn. He has Friends forever, so he is usually paired with another commander from that group, and the deck leans toward creatures with strong enter or death triggers.

In the recorded games, Othelm mostly played a quiet midrange role rather than leading the table. The deck built a board slowly, used sacrifice outlets and recursion for value and avoided early fights. It rarely drove the game on its own. Only twelve games were recorded, so the clearest takeaway is simple: Othelm works best with creatures that do something when they enter or die, and he is easy to ignore until that engine gets going. Keep {2} open on opponents' turns too, since the ability works at instant speed.
