Orvar is a 4-mana 3/3 changeling. Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery that targets one or more of your other permanents, you create a token copy of one of them. Cheap targeting spells like Twitch or Whim of Volrath become clone machines, copying lands, mana rocks or creatures with useful enter abilities. If an opponent makes you discard Orvar, you copy any target permanent. The deck aims to multiply mana and loop spells into a combo.
In the recorded games, Orvar copied Aether Channeler, Grim Monolith and lands to grow mana fast, often with High Tide on the same turn. Whim of Volrath with buyback was a common engine, and Isochron Scepter with Dramatic Reversal showed up as a combo. Some lists played equipment like Shadowspear and Sword of Fire and Ice and won through combat, and turn-one Orvar happened off fast mana like Mana Crypt. Weak spots were Trinisphere and other taxes, early removal on Orvar, and faster cEDH decks that combo first. Brain Freeze aimed at Orvar also wrecked a game.
