Marchesa and every other creature you control have dethrone, so attacking the player with the most life puts a +1/+1 counter on each attacker. Any creature you control that dies with a +1/+1 counter returns to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step. It comes back as a new object without counters, so it needs another counter to loop again. The deck pairs sacrifice outlets with enter and death triggers, undying creatures and other counter sources, which makes removal and sweepers much less effective against it.
In the recorded games, the best turns came from sacrifice outlets like Goblin Bombardment used in response to sweepers, and from enter triggers recycled at each end step. Plaguecrafter, Gravecrawler, Animate Dead and Grave Betrayal kept bodies coming back, while Hostage Taker stole opponents' creatures for Marchesa to reuse. Dockside Extortionist next to Marchesa produced a burst of Treasure. Some pilots kept their own life low on purpose so dethrone always pointed at someone else. The board was hard to clear for good, but removal on Marchesa before the end step cut the loops off, and the deck won by grinding rather than with one explosive turn.
