Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist

$1.58

At the beginning of each player's end step, that player may draw a card if someone other than you lost life that turn. In practice you want an opponent to lose life every turn, so you draw at your own end step, but anyone else who keeps the damage flowing draws too. Ludevic is a 1/4 for three with partner. The deck runs cheap burn, pingers and card draw so it can use the extra cards better than the rest of the table.

In the recorded games, Ludevic was usually paired with Jeska, Thrice Reborn, and sometimes with black partners like Sengir, the Dark Baron or Ravos, Soultender. Cheap spells, Grim Lavamancer and Rhystic Study kept the hand full, and Jeska's damage helped make sure an opponent lost life each turn. It was good at slowing opponents and answering threats, like a board piling up +1/+1 counters. It struggled to finish games, though. A fast aggressive deck with burn and combat damage beat it before it could take control, and the shared card draw sometimes helped the table as much as it helped Ludevic.
