Loot, Exuberant Explorer

$2.82

Loot lets you play an additional land each turn, which doubles landfall triggers and speeds up ramp. Loot's second ability costs {4}{G}{G} and a tap. You look at the top six cards and may put a creature with mana value up to your land count onto the battlefield, sending the rest to the bottom. Since the creature is not cast, it ignores counterspells and limits on casting spells. The deck plays heavy ramp, landfall payoffs and large creatures to hit with the ability.

In the recorded games, Loot decks usually ramped quickly with extra land drops and landfall payoffs, then used the activation to put large creatures into play. Putting a creature onto the battlefield instead of casting it got around a one-spell-per-turn restriction in one game. Loot also helped rebuild quickly after a board wipe, since a single activation could restock the board. With 11 games recorded, there is not much more to go on. The deck was fairly linear, and early pressure from other players was a real test before the big turns arrived.
