Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel

$0.24

For {1}{W}, Livio chooses another creature, and its controller may exile it with an aegis counter. For {2}{W} and tapping, he returns every exiled card with an aegis counter to the battlefield under its owner's control. That dodges removal and board wipes, resets enter-the-battlefield triggers, and can strip tokens, counters and auras. He is a partner, so most decks use him as a white support piece for a creature-heavy plan.

In the recorded games, Livio played as support for a partner's token or creature plan, keeping the board up through combat and removal. When the partner made tokens, the pair applied steady pressure and forced opponents to block. It struggled once opponents set up card advantage engines or recursive value decks, since Livio adds little card draw of his own. Grindy enchantment and graveyard decks outlasted it. The protection mattered most when a wipe was coming, as long as the mana was held up.
