Kraum, Ludevic's Opus

Kraum is a 4/4 flier with haste for five, and you draw a card whenever an opponent casts their second spell in a turn. That punishes busy tables, so in competitive pods it can draw several cards a round without doing anything. Haste and flying also make it a quick evasive attacker, which matters with partners that care about combat damage. Kraum is almost always the blue-red half of a pair. The other commander decides whether the deck ends up Grixis, four colors or something else.

In the recorded games, Tymna the Weaver was the most frequent partner, with Kraum's hasty flying attacks feeding her card draw after combat. Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator, Vial Smasher the Fierce and Tevesh Szat also showed up often. The lists were mostly cEDH, using Intuition, Underworld Breach, Ad Nauseam and Bolas's Citadel to assemble a combo, with Wheel of Fortune and Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer on the tempo side. Counterspells protected the combo turn. Kraum's own draw kept the hand stocked while the partner applied pressure. When a game dragged, the deck usually won on card advantage rather than a single big attack.
