Kethis, the Hidden Hand

$3.81

Kethis makes legendary spells cost {1} less. Its other ability exiles two legendary cards from your graveyard, and then until end of turn each legendary card in your graveyard can be played from there, lands included. The deck packs legendary creatures, artifacts, planeswalkers and lands, mills or discards some of them, and then replays the best ones on a key turn. Cheap legends and spare copies in the graveyard double as fuel for the exile cost.

In the recorded games, Kethis usually came down early to cheapen the rest of the curve, and the payoff came later. Replaying legends after a board wipe was its strongest feature, letting it rebuild faster than most of the table. Lists varied a lot. Some used Survival of the Fittest and creature recursion, others ran planeswalkers and sweepers or a combo built from legendary permanents. The weakness was speed. The engine took several turns to set up and depended on a stocked graveyard, so the deck often looked like a long-term value plan rather than an immediate threat.
