Jolene, the Plunder Queen

$9.68

Whenever any player attacks one of your opponents, the attacker creates a Treasure. Jolene also gives you one extra Treasure whenever you would create any. So you get two per attack, and opponents get paid for attacking each other instead of you. For five Treasures, Jolene gets five +1/+1 counters. The deck plays treasure makers, equipment that pays off combat damage and big spells to sink the mana into.

In the recorded games, Goldvein Pick on an early attacker was a common start, creating two Treasures per hit. The Reaver Cleaver turned one big hit into a huge pile of Treasures. The mana usually went into dragons and other large creatures, and a few lists ran Primal Surge as a way to put the whole deck onto the battlefield. Jolene's first effect gave the table a reason to attack each other, which bought time. The flip side is that opponents get Treasure too, and aggressive decks like goblins used that mana to keep up the pressure. When the plan stalled, Jolene had little card draw to fall back on.
