Spells you cast cost {1} less for each target, and spells your opponents cast cost {1} more for each target. That makes X spells that target X permanents, like Heliod's Intervention, cost almost nothing beyond their colored mana, and escalate cards like Collective Defiance get much cheaper. At the same time, opponents' removal and counterspells cost more, so Hinata is a hard commander to answer. The deck is built around multi-target spells, card draw and counterspells, with combo finishes as the backup.
In the recorded games, the deck mostly played control. Heliod's Intervention for two mana, Volcanic Offering and Magma Opus cleared boards or key threats, and Mana Drain or Swan Song covered the stack. Combo lines used Underworld Breach with Lion's Eye Diamond and Brain Freeze, or Dualcaster Mage with Twinflame. Metallurgic Summonings and Archmage Emeritus rewarded the spell count. It struggled when opponents had their own counterspells and recursion, when stax like Trinisphere slowed it, or when a wide token deck went under its spells. Getting Hinata countered early also set it back.
