Emiel the Blessed

$14.25

For {3}, Emiel exiles another creature you control and returns it right away, so every enters-the-battlefield trigger becomes repeatable. Each time another creature enters, you can pay {G/W} to put a +1/+1 counter on it, or two if it's a Unicorn. That counter rider matters more than it looks. Workhorse comes back with four counters every blink, which nets a colorless mana each loop and turns into infinite blinks. The rest of the deck is ramp and creatures that draw, make tokens or fetch lands when they enter.

In the recorded games, Emiel usually built value first and comboed later. Armorcraft Judge drew a pile of cards off repeated blinks, Prosperous Innkeeper made Treasures, and Sun Titan brought back permanents each time it reentered. Seedborn Muse let the deck blink on every turn. Kill lines ran through Workhorse, Cloudstone Curio, Altar of Dementia and Astral Cornucopia, with Cathars' Crusade making the board enormous. Divine Visitation and Blessed Sanctuary turned blinks into extra bodies. Some pilots played Wrath of God early to slow faster decks. The weak point was Emiel itself: when opponents pointed damage at it, the engine stalled and the board had to be rebuilt.
