Dina, Essence Brewer
$2.00
$2.00Legendary Creature — Dryad Druid
Golgari sacrifice that draws a card off the first creature sacrificed each turn and turns dead bodies into life and counters.
The first time you sacrifice a creature each turn, Dina draws you a card. Her activated ability costs {2} and a tap: sacrifice another creature to gain X life and put X +1/+1 counters on a creature you control, where X is the sacrificed creature's power. The draw only triggers once per turn, so the deck pairs her with other sacrifice outlets, token makers and recursive creatures to get value out of every death, not just the first.
In the recorded games Pitiless Plunderer added Treasure to the sacrifice loop and Bloodghast came back every time a land dropped. Deadly Brew kept opponents' boards small while feeding Dina's draw. The deck played a long, resilient game: it rebuilt well after board wipes and banked a lot of life, and a few wins came from pumping one creature with counters for a big final attack. Graveyard hate was the main problem, since several lists relied on recursion. Expect slow, grindy games decided by attrition.
