Brion Stoutarm

$0.82

For {R}, a tap and sacrificing another creature, Brion deals damage equal to that creature's power to a player or planeswalker. Brion has lifelink, so that damage also gains you the same amount of life. The classic build pairs this with threaten effects. You take an opponent's best creature until end of turn, attack with it, then sacrifice it to Brion. Big-power creatures and pump effects make each fling count for more.

In the recorded games, the most common line was stealing an opponent's biggest creature and throwing it at someone, sometimes at its owner. A borrowed Ghalta, Primal Hunger made everyone nervous. Fast starts with Sol Ring and Cursed Mirror copying it got Brion out early, and Ring of Valkas turned him into a growing attacker. Flinging usually worked best after combat, as a finisher for a damaged opponent. The weak spots were clear. Brion needs a turn to untap, he dies to most removal, and in several games control decks and big life gain outlasted his chip damage. One player conceded early after falling behind.
