Bright-Palm has backup 1. When it enters, it puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature, and if that's another creature, that creature also gains the attack ability until end of turn. When Bright-Palm attacks, it doubles the counters on a target creature, and that creature can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less. The deck plays more backup creatures and counter makers to set up one huge attacker.
In the recorded games, backup creatures like Conclave Sledge-Captain spread counters, and Kodama of the West Tree gave modified creatures trample and ramped on damage. Garruk's Uprising drew cards from big creatures, and some lists ran convoke spells and tokens. Plans were simple: grow one creature, double it on attack and win with combat damage. That made the deck easy to read, and it often became the table's first target. Removal on the creature holding counters slowed it.
