Balan is a 3/3 first striker for four that gains double strike with two or more Equipment attached. For {1}{W}, every Equipment you control moves onto Balan at once, ignoring equip costs. You can play equipment onto any creature and still move it all at instant speed, which also helps after a blocker or a removal spell. The deck runs a heavy equipment package and fast mana so Balan can attack fully loaded early.
In the recorded games, Colossus Hammer was the standout because Balan's ability skips its huge equip cost. Mask of Memory drew cards, and Bloodforged Battle-Axe copied itself on each hit. One list assembled Helm, Shield and Sword of Kaldra, and Kaldra Compleat appeared as a single-card threat. Puresteel Paladin made equip free and drew a card per equipment. Ancient Tomb and Mana Crypt sped things up, at a real cost in life. Balan forced opponents to plan blocks and removal around him, and board wipes and creature theft were what set the deck back. With only 11 games, expect fast clocks but a hard reset after Balan dies.
