Azor, the Lawbringer

Azor is a 6/6 flier. When it enters, each opponent can't cast instants or sorceries during their next turn, which can blank a combo turn or a sweeper. Whenever Azor attacks, you may pay {X}{W}{U}{U} to gain X life and draw X cards. The deck ramps toward a big X, protects Azor with counterspells, and uses its own attacks as the main source of card advantage. Commander damage from a 6/6 flier is a real clock on its own.

In the recorded games, the deck played as a control shell that slowed the table down. Rule of Law and other spell-tax effects kept opponents to one spell per turn, while counterspells and removal handled key threats. Casting Azor at the right moment to stop opposing instants and sorceries was a big tempo swing. Once settled, the X attack trigger refilled the hand and gained life, and a few games ended through commander damage. Azor was a lightning rod, though. Opponents' removal, like Big Game Hunter, took it out early, and wide boards from token or zombie decks overran the control pieces.
