Arixmethes enters tapped with five slumber counters. While it has any, it's a land that taps for {G}{U}. Each spell you cast lets you remove a counter, and once they're gone it's a 12/12 creature. Early on it's a mana rock that dodges creature removal, and later it's a huge threat. The deck plays ramp, cheap cantrips like Preordain to speed up waking it, and big sea creatures.
In the recorded games, the deck ramped hard and played the counters off over several turns. Crush of Tentacles was a strong pick, since Arixmethes can still be a land when the board gets bounced. Azor's Gateway and Future Sight helped some lists draw into big spells, and one list used untappers with Walking Ballista for an infinite mana finish. The weakness was speed: removing five counters takes time, so it struggled when the game sped up, and graveyard hate and removal cost one deck its creatures.
