Alania, Divergent Storm

$0.34

Alania copies up to three spells a turn: your first instant, your first sorcery and your first Otter spell other than herself. Each copy costs you a card for someone else, because you must have a target opponent draw a card to make it. The deck plays strong instants and sorceries worth copying, plus Otters, and casts spells on other players' turns to get the instant copy each turn. Choosing which opponent draws is part of the politics.

In the recorded games, Alania played as a spellslinger built around copied spells and Otter tokens. Sorcerer Class supplied card draw, and Thran Dynamo ramped toward the five-mana commander. Copied draw and token spells led to some big turns. With only nine games recorded, there is little to say about how it won or lost. The deck needs careful sequencing to get full value, and the card each opponent draws adds up over a long game.
